Significance

Ruthenium(0) nanoclusters supported on hydroxyapatite (Ru(0)/HAP) were prepared via treatment of RuCl3˙H2O with hydroxyapatite (HAP) followed by NaBH4 reduction. Ru(0)/HAP catalyzed the hydrogenation of aromatics in cyclohexane under 42 psi initial pressure of molecular hydrogen to give the corresponding cyclohexane derivatives with TOF values of 300-705 h.
