Significance

In this work, chiral N,N′-dioxide-nickel complexes were utilized in the catalytic aza-ene-type reaction between glyoxal derivatives and enamides or enecarbamates. Excellent enantio­selectivities up to >99% ee were obtained with relatively low catalyst loading (5 mol%).
