Significance
The work investigates the regioselectivity of the Hurd-Mori reaction on 1,2,3-thiadiazoles. The success of the described cyclization events is found to be highly dependant on the presence of an electron-withdrawing group. Steric factors are highlighted as critical in the regioselectivity of the process.
