Significance

This paper describes the copper-catalyzed enantioselective hydroboration of 1,1-disubstituted aryl alkenes. Despite the recent development of enantioselective hydroboration, utilization of 1,1-disubstitued alkenes remains a challenge. The authors found that the bidentate NHC ligand provided homobenzylic C-B bond formation selectively and attained high enantioselectivity.
