Significance

A metal-organic framework MIL-101 with size-controlled Pd nanoparticles (NPs) was prepared. [(η5-C5H5)Pd(η³-C3H5)] was installed in MIL-101 by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition. Reduction at 21 ˚C (5 bar H2) gave Pd NPs LL4842 (Æ 2.9 nm) with a narrow size distribution. Reduction at 70 ˚C (70 bar H2) afforded smaller Pd NPs HH1545 (Æ 1.7 nm).
