Der Infektionsschutz des Patienten, aber auch des Mitarbeiters, durch Hygienemaßnahmen ist unerlässlicher Bestandteil des Qualitätsmanagements zur Gewährleistung der Patientensicherheit.

Die Krankenhaushygiene beeinflusst maßgeblich die Strukturqualität der Einrichtung, integriert hygienische Standards in alle diagnostischen und therapeutischen Verfahrensabläufe (Prozessqualität) und ermöglicht sowohl durch Überwachung der Prozessqualität als auch durch die Infektionsüberwachung die Ermittlung der Ergebnisqualität.

Nachfolgend sollen aus interdisziplinärer Sicht Schwerpunkte für ein Qualitätsmanagement der Hygiene einschließlich Möglichkeiten zur Gewährleistung der Compliance in Klinik und Praxis der Orthopädie und Unfallchirurgie aufgezeigt werden.
