Ein Wirkstoff mit antidiabetischen Eigenschaften – Dextromethorphan

Zusammenfassung

Dextromethorphan wird bisher als Hustenstiller angewandt. Jetzt wurde entdeckt, dass diese Substanz auch die Insulinausschüttung steigert und die Blutglukosekonzentration senkt. Daher ist Dextromethorphan nicht nur gegen Reizhusten, sondern auch als neue Behandlungsmöglichkeit für Diabetes interessant.

Summary

Dextromethorphan has been used up to now as an antitussive. It has now been found that this substance can also increase the secretion of insulin and lower the level of glucose in blood. Thus dextromethorphan is not only of interest as a remedy for dry cough but also as a new treatment option of diabetes.
