Zusammenfassung

34% aller operierten Brustkrebspatientinnen leiden an einem sekundären Lymphödem des Armes. Neben der jahrzehntelang geübten komplexen Entstauungstherapie etabliert sich ein neues Verfahren aus dem Bereich der ope-rativen Lymphologie. Ziel ist, die Frequenz der komplexen Entstauungstherapie zu reduzieren sowie den betroffenen Arm an die Gegenseite anzupassen. Durch entsprechende Verfahren gelingt eine Verbesserung der Ausgangsbedingungen um 80%.

Summary

34% of all breast cancer surgery patients develop secondary lymphoedema of the arm. In addition to complex decongestive therapy, which has been practised for decades, a new approach based on operative lymphology is now gaining ground. The aim of this new approach is to reduce the frequency of complex decongestive therapy and to restore the symmetry between the affected and unaffected arm. Use of techniques of this kind can achieve an 80% improvement in the starting conditions.
