Addressing complications and suboptimal outcomes following surgery are part of the price we pay for the privilege to practice our craft. While we all strive to minimize these risks, unfortunately, they are never completely avoidable. In addition to the disappointment experienced by the patient and the surgeon, at times both may also harbor resentment. We may even find ourselves avoiding these patients as they are a humble reminder of our own limitations. Equally as frustrating is when we are tasked with addressing another surgeon's complication or poor outcome. It is with this in mind that I invited this outstanding group of surgeons to share their experience with this challenging patient population. Specifically, the authors have shared their tips, tricks, and techniques they use to treat them.

It has been an honor to collaborate with this talented panel of surgeons. The wide breadth of this topic is reflected in the diverse backgrounds of the contributing authors. I would like to personally thank them for generously contributing their expertise to this effort. Finally, I would like to thank the editor, Dr. Edward Buchanan, for the opportunity to present this issue of Seminars in Plastic Surgery on “Revision Plastic Surgery.” I hope you find the content informative and helpful in the care of your patients.
