Significance

A method for the enantioselective arylation of substituted benzaldehydes, starting from stable arylboroxines as nucleophile precursors and diphenylprolinol as chiral catalyst is described. The method was applied to a number of benzaldehydes as well as to various aryl boroxines. The authors investigated also the influence of the aryl substituents in the chiral ligand. It is a new application of boron-zinc exchange which allows a smooth transfer of an aryl group from boroxines.
