Significance

Chiral diarylcarbinols are important intermediates in the drug industry. Aryl transfer to benzaldehydes allows obtaining benzhydryl alcohols with two similar aryl rings. The proposed approach is based on readily available and stable starting materials for the transfer of the phenyl group. The reaction gives good yields and high enantioselectivity.
