Significance

Cyclopropanes are widespread structural units occurring in many natural and synthetic compounds and possessing biological activity. This method affords an easy approach to a broad range of polyfunctionalized cyclopropanes, starting from readily available acyclic precursors. The cyclopropane ring was formed by a radical cyclization, which is somewhat uncommon.
