Significance

The procedure described by the authors is an oxidative C-C bond formation. It uses inexpensive and readily available desyl chloride as a reoxidant for Pd(0) in the cross-coupling between two organometallic species: an alkylzinc and an alkynylstannane. The method is operationally simple and affords a broad range of substituted alkynes with a good functional group tolerance. It opens also good perspectives for the development of new types of C-C bond forming reactions.
