Significance

(-)-Himgaline is an alkaloid isolated from the rare rainforest tree Galbulimima belgraveana. The first total synthesis of (-)-himgaline is completed in 32 steps from the previously reported aldehyde A (S. Chackalamannil et al.J. Med. Chem. 2005, 48, 5884-5887).
