Significance

Direct arylation of enolizable ketones by aryl electrophiles is a highly useful synthetic transformation, especially in the case of heteroarenes. Herein, the authors reported a simple microwave-assisted method for the preparation of various α-aryl- and -heteroarylacetones by a simple arylation of acetone silyl enol ether. This process is especially convenient for diversity synthesis, as the reaction requires only 15 min and is quite tolerant to the presence of functional groups.
