Significance

Despite the great interest devoted to the Ru-catalyzed allylic substitution (C. Bruneau, J. L. Renaud, B. Demerseman Chem. Eur. J. 2006, 12, 5178-5187), only a single report of an enantioselective process has appeared (M. D. Mbaye, J. L. Renaud, B. Demerseman, C. Bruneau Chem. Commun. 2004, 1870-1871). In the present paper, the authors describe the first ruthenium-catalyzed enantioselective Carroll rearrangement using a chiral pyridine imine ligand.
