Significance

Marinomycins A-C were isolated from a marine actinomycete. They exhibit potent antibiotic activity against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium. They also display potent cytotoxicity towards a range of cancer cell lines. The synthesis depicted creates the macrocycle by an intramolecular Suzuki coupling.
