Significance

Thiolactomycin is a thiotetronic acid antibiotic produced by a Nocardia actinomycete. A synthesis of thiolactomycin and analogues is reported which features an anti-selective S_N2′ reaction of a vinyl epoxide with a thiocarboxylate nucleophile.
