Pd(II)-Catalyzed Addition of Arylsiloxanes to α,β-Unsaturated Compounds in Water

Significance

This addition reaction is remarkable in two ways: First, it can be carried out in water due to the high stability of the palladium-phosphinous acid catalyst and second, it includes the first examples of the Pd-catalyzed addition of arylsiloxanes to α,β-unsaturated esters and nitriles. The respective β-substituted products are obtained in good to excellent yields.
