Significance
Preparation and catalytic properties of MnO2 were described. Thus, anion-exchange resin R+Cl - was treated with aqueous KMnO4 to give the permanganate resin R+MnO4 -. The resulting R+MnO4 - was photochemically reduced under mild alkaline conditions to afford the MnO2 nanorods on the resin surface R(MnO2)OH (eq. 1). The light-induced hydrolysis reaction of the nitriles was carried out in the presence of R(MnO2)OH and triethylamine with the irradiation of visible light to give the corresponding amides in 50-82% yield (eq. 2).
