Significance

The authors report on a novel synthetic approach towards O-aryloximes. It is applicable to a broad range of aryl iodides as it proceeds with a good tolerance of sensitive functional groups. In the coupling reaction Na,K-tartrate was found to form a complex with the resulting Cu(II) keeping it from deoximation. Coupling with aldoximines was found to only proceed under very mild reaction conditions.
