Significance

Intermolecular Heck-type reactions providing high levels of enantioselectivity are still eluding the research community. The present oxidative catalytic system may represent an important step forward. The method showed much more consistent ee values than existing systems (62-75% vs 17-75%, respectively). Aldehydes and esters reacted equally well with electron-rich and electroneutral boronic acids.
