Significance
The development of a new chiral N,N′-dioxide-copper(I) catalyst for efficient enantioselective Henry reactions is reported. The corresponding nitroalcohol products, from aldehydes and α-keto esters, are obtained in good yields and high enantioselectivities. In Henry reactions only a few catalytic systems are efficient for both aldehydes and α-keto esters. The method is versatile and tolerant towards air and moisture.
