Zum Problem einer kompetenten Allround-Betreuung von Glaukompatienten in der Praxis

Zusammenfassung

Glaukom, als multifaktorielle Erkrankung, erfordert über die spezifischen ophthalmologischen Sachkenntnisse hinaus zunehmend allgemeinmedizinisches Wissen, um die notwendigen diagnostischen und therapeutischen Konsequenzen ziehen zu können. Ohne diese Grundkenntnisse und einen interdisziplinären Dialog ist eine kompetente Betreuung von Glaukompatienten heutzutage nicht mehr möglich. Diese Arbeit soll als kurzgefasste Übersichtsdarstellung dienen, die Infoboxen sollen die tägliche Arbeit in der Praxis erleichtern.

Abstract

Glaucoma is a multi-faceted condition which is influenced by many factors within and beyond the eye. For this reason, ophthalmologists require a broader understanding of other conditions which affect the development of glaucoma, specifically relating to diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Interdisciplinary communication with other specialists is necessary to coordinate optimal treatment methods and offer optimal care for glaucoma patients. This paper provides a brief overview of the diagnostic and therapeutic requirements and contains information boxes which support the daily clinical work.
