Significance
Anguinomycin C is produced by a Streptomyces sp. strain and exhibits activity against tumor cell lines in picomolar concentrations. It only causes growth arrest in normal cells and not cell death. The synthesis highlights two rather high-yielding Negishi cross-couplings (D → E and F → G) and a Suzuki sp2-sp3 coupling (G + I → J).
