Significance

Enantiopure functionalized silanes represent a group of highly useful organometallic precursors for the synthesis of several groups of molecules. From that aspect, the catalytic system described is a very valuable catalyst. Tol-binap/pica Ru(II) efficiently catalyzes the reduction of aromatic, aliphatic and α,β-unsaturated acyl silanes under mild conditions and high substrate/catalyst ratio.
