The first month of Endoscopy International Open

On December 19, 2013, the first online issue of the new Open Access journal Endoscopy International Open was released. A newsletter sent out the same day announced the birth of the new journal, which was received enthusiastically and with great interest within the community: up to now, the newsletter has been opened almost 6.000 times and the rate of visitors on our website has increased by 125.24 %, with “Endoscopic submucosal dissection for nonampullary large superficial adenocarcinoma/adenoma of the duodenum: feasibility and long-term outcomes” from Shu Hoteya et al. from Japan being the most viewed article of the month.

The next issue of our new journal will bring further interesting and insightful articles – currently, we have 50 manuscripts to be processed in ManuscriptCentral, which is great news for such a “young” journal!

For the members of the gastrointestinal endoscopy community, the benefits and USP of the new journal seem to be clearly obvious:

  • Highly international format, especially attractive for junior authors and authors from emerging countries

  • Due to its open access approach, easily accessible and fast way to publish, with the articles being open for everybody within the community

  • Modern format for publishing and searching research results adapted to the needs of our time

  • High quality journal with big aspirations and a great future to come
