ABSTRACT

With the recent advent of laparoscopy and implementation of this technique for bowel surgery, laparoscopic stoma creation has become a common procedure with many applications. Ease of construction combined with the advantages of minimal invasion make laparoscopic stoma creation the procedure of choice for many clinical scenarios. In the following article, the indications, criteria for patient selection, outpatient preparation, operative techniques, and results of laparoscopic stoma creation are discussed.
