Abstract

A new sesquiterpene acid, cyperenoic acid, has been isolated, together with acetylaleuritolic acid, chettaphanin-I, and β-amyrin, from the root part of Croton crassifolius. On the basis of chemical and spectral evidence, the structure of cyperenoic acid was established as 2.
