Background

Cataract surgery is one of the most frequent ophthalmic surgeries, usually a short and minimally invasive procedure with minimal pain, under topical or regional anesthesia [1]. Many of the patients undergoing cataract surgery are elderly and on systemic treatments and therapies [2].

Orbital cellulitis is an infection of the orbital soft tissue posterior to the orbital septum [3].
