Abstract
In addition to Canthin–6–one, 5–Methoxy–canthin–6–one, 4–Methoxy–5–hydroxy–canthin–6–one and Scopoletin, N–Methoxy–1–vinyl–β–carboline as a new β–carboline alcaloid has been isolated from the wood of Picrasma excelsa (Swartz) Planchon during investigation on the positive inotropic activity of the drug.
