Abstract
Secondary metabolites (essential oil, flavonoids, coumarins and phenolic acids) of different chamomill tissues (flowers, herb, root, tumors) have been investigated and the results have been compared:
-
All tissues contain sesquiterpenoids such as farnesene. The quantitative pattern of these substances is varying.
-
Stem tumors contain about as much essential oil as herb.
-
Tumors lack bisaboloids and cham–azulene; roots and herb lack cham–azulene too.
-
Tumors and roots lack flavonoids as well as the coumarins herniarin and umbelliferon; these substances are found in herb and flowers.
