Abstract

Chromatographie and spectroscopic methods were employed for the chemical examination of the stem–heartwood, roots and leaves of Haplophragma adenophyllum. Dehydro–α–lapachone, lapachol, dehydro–iso–α–lapachone, dehydrotectol, β–sitosterol and tectol have been isolated from the alcoholic extract of stem–heartwood. The benzene extract of roots yielded dehydro–α–lapachone, α–lapachone, lapachol, βsitosterol, β–lapachone and ethanol extract gave dehydro–iso–α–lapachone and dehydrotectol. The light petroleum extract of its leaves led to the isolation of β–sitosterol and β–amyrin.
