Abstract

The new iridoid enol glucosides, iridodialo–β–D–gentiobioside (I) and dehydroiridodialo–β–D–gentiobioside (II), were isolated from Actinidia polygama Miq. and the aglycones of (I) and (II) were found to be responsible for the pungency of the plant.
