Abstract

Eighteen coumarins from different species of Ruta collected in the Canary Islands were tested for cytostatic activity. Rutamarin proved to be strikingly cytotoxic.

We tried to establish the structure/activity relationship and also to elucidate the mechanism of the activity of this constituent.
