Abstract
The chemical composition of the water-soluble polysaccharides present in three succulent plants is described. The main components are galactose, galacturonic acid, arabinose, rhamnose and xylose. The poly sacch arides are formed by a rhamnose-galacturonic acid backbone with ramifications made up by the other neutral sugars.
