Abstract

A histochemical test for the localisation of thio compounds in plant tissues is established. The transverse section, sap, aqueous or alcoholic extract of plant materials containing isothiocyanates or disulphides when treated with 2,3–di-chloro–1,4–naphthoquinone give pink stain or coloration in the presence of ammonia.
