Abstract

On the basis of the NMR spectra at 300 MHz the configuration of D/E ring junction in acacic acid, proceric acid and sapogenin B has finally been fixed with 18 oc H (D/E trans) while machaerinic acid-isomer of proceric acid has DIE cis junction (18 β H). Other similar lactone forming acid have D/E trans junction.
