Abstract
Intraspecific variation of glycosidic plant constituents is reviewed. Most attention is payed to cardenolide-producing plants. In some instances the occurrence of chemotypes within species is indicated but not yet definitely proved because many factors others than genetic ones may affect cardenolide patterns quantitatively and qualitatively. Some attention is payed to chemical differentiation within species producing simple phenolic glucosides (arbutin), anthraquinone glycosides, saponins and flavonoid glycosides. The need for more and carefully planed research is stressed.
