Abstract
The alkaloids lycorine, hippeastrine, tazettine, vittatine and hippacine previously isolated from Hippeastrum vittatum L. Her. growing in Germany also have been separated from the plant cultivated in Egypt.
In addition other three alkaloidal bases were isolated; the first was provisionaly termed hippadine and has been assigned the molecular formula C16H10NO3; the second was provisionaly termed hippagine and has been assigned the molecular formula CuH17NO4 and the third was provisionaly termed hippafine.
A remaining five alkaloids occur in too small a quantity for identification at this time, their picrate derivatives were prepared whenever possible and investigated.
