THE PHENOLIC COMPOUNDS OF UNDERGROUND PARTS OF APOCYNUM VENETUM

Abstract

The underground parts of Apocynum venetum L. growing on the Northern Adriatic Sea shores contain p–hydroxyacetophenone and acetovanillone; the possibility for the biogenetic transformation of acetovanillone into p–hydroxyacetophenone is formulated.

Zusammenfassung

Es wurden in der Wurzel von Apocynum venetum L. des nordöstlichen Adria–Gebietes zwei unseres Wissens bisher noch nicht zusammen in der Pflanzenart gefundene Phenolabkömmlinge, Azetovanillon und p–Oxyazetophenon, auf chromathographischem und massenspektroskopischem Wege nachgewiesen. Die Möglichkeit einer Umwandlung des Azetovanillons zu p–Oxyazetophenon wird vom Verfasser erörtert.
