Summary
A mixture of anthra–glycosides was isolated from Rheum palmatum. By paperchromatography (System n–Propanol–ethylacetate–water 4:3:3) the presence was shown of the anthraquinone glycosides already known and also of some dianthrone glycosides, including Sennoside A and B.
The dianthrone glycosides could be separated from most of the anthraquinone glycosides by liquid–liquid extraction (system n–Propanol–ethylacetate–water 1:1:2).
