Significance

The synthesis portrayed here utilizes a Pd-catalyzed C(sp³)-H activation to form benzocyclobutene ester B. Various 3,4-dihydro-isoquinolines are synthesized using C-H ­activation and a tandem electrocyclic ring opening-6π-electrocyclization of different iminobenzocyclobutenes.
