Abstract

Regioselective ring opening of aryl epoxides with che­lated amino acid ester enolates gives rise to β-hydroxymethyl phenylalanine derivatives. This methodology allows straightforward access to a wide range of modified β-phenylalanine derivatives, which can be subjected to further transformations.
