Abstract

Novel, one-step synthetic routes for the preparation of 1-methyl-2,4,5-trinitroimidazole (MTNI) are described. In addition, a new, molten-state nitration method for the synthesis of 1-methyl-2,4,5-trinitroimidazole is developed.
