Introduction

Minor head injuries are common in infancy and childhood. Usually these injuries do not result in major complications; however a minority of these patients will suffer severe sequelae. The challenge is to identify patients at risk of developing severe neurological complications. While trauma-related intracranial hemorrhage is well known, ischemic stroke after minor head injury is rare and its pathogenesis not fully understood. We report 2 cases of children who developed neurological abnormalities due to ischemic lesions in the basal ganglia region after minor head trauma and discuss the literature on this topic.
