Significance
Y-27632 is a selective ROCK (Rho-associated coiled-coil-forming protein serine/threonine kinase) inhibitor which has played a major role in stem cell research and in understanding a wide range of disease states associated with Rho-kinase. It was first synthesized by workers at Yoshitomi Pharmaceuticals (US Patent 4997834, 1991; US Patent 5478838, 1995).
