Abstract

A palladium(II)-catalyzed, copper(I)-mediated Liebeskind–Srogl cross-coupling for the C-6 arylation/alkenylation on purine scaffold is reported. Various boronic acids reacted readily with 8-substituted 6-thiophenylpurines.

  • 22 The reactivity of 8-alkynylpurine 11 appeared to be quite low as poor yields were obtained when other boronic acids were used. These problems may be due to the degradation of the substrate at elevated temperatures or to the coordination of copper to the triple bond of the substrate thereby poisoning the reaction.
