New pentacyclic triterpenoid from the roots of Lantana montevidensis (spreng.) briq. cultivated in Egypt
A new pentacyclic triterpenoid, together with six known compounds, was isolated from the chloroform fraction of the roots of Lantana montevidensis (Spreng.) Briq. cultivated in Egypt. The new compound was established as 13-hydroxy-3-oxo-olean-11-en-28-oic acid (1) on the basis of spectroscopic analysis, while the other compounds were identified as oleanonic acid (2), oleanolic acid (3), 3β, 25β-dihydroxy-olean-12-en-28-oic acid (4), pomolic acid (5), camaric acid (6) and β-sitosterol.
