Vitex grandifolia G. (Verbenaceae) is widely distributed in West Africa mostly in Nigeria and Benin. The leaves of V. grandifolia are used in folk medicine for rheumatism, stomachic, diarrhea, bronchial complaints, rickets, sore, and fever [1]. In this study, twelve compounds including five new ones belonging to iridiods, phenolics, flavoniods and lignans were isolated from the methanol extract of the leaves of V. grandifolia. Structures of the compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic data analyses including 1D and 2D NMR and HRESIMS.
